Week in Review

What. A. Week!

I’ve had a few weeks of training in my life during which I could feel a legitimate change in my outlook. This, was definitely one of them. The week as a whole was not a complete success. As a product of my eagerness and ambition, I had decided to go ahead and keep with the following program for the week:

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
AM Run (4km) Core + legs Run (6km) Core + legs Run (4km) Run (6km) Spinning
PM Chest + Triceps Spinning Shoulders Spinning Back + Biceps Rest Rest

In actuality, my week looked a little something like this:

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
AM Rest Core + legs Rest Rest Rest Run (6km) Spinning
PM Rum (4km) Spinning Run (6km) Spinning Run (4km) Rest Core + legs

Now, upon some inspection you might think to yourself “Hey…. Thats a lot of rest during that week!” And you would be right! But I’m not so much focused on the gym sessions as I am on the cardio sessions. For me, gym sessions are a way to keep strength up and not neglect a vital part of the training regime. Even then, my focus this week was on closing the activity rings on my Apple Watch. While, a very rudimental training tool, I find there is nothing more motivating than a fitness tracker to help you get on track before you get deep into the heavy trackers in the form of Garmin and Strava etc.

Taking the positives out of a week is super important for me. It helps keep me motivated, plus helps me identify exactly what needs improvement. For this week, the focus will be simply to make all the sessions. As good as last week was, this week we will deal with simply making the sessions. This means that I have to show up, and be there for every session, intensity is not a factor, we are worried about simply building a routine and stablishing a standard for showing up.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
AM Run (4km) Core + legs Run (6km) Core + legs Run (4km) Run (6km) Spinning
PM Chest + Triceps Spinning Shoulders Spinning Back + Biceps Rest Rest

This week’s program is exactly the same as last weeks, and that is on purpose, not out of laziness. I will keep working my way through this program until I am capable of making these on a consistant basis. Only then, will the focus shift from “showing up” to “working hard”. I am excited about this journey, its week two and I am making big changes! Hopefully you all can come along with me as well.

Happy training!

Pablo
